Mentorship Program

We see every student’s potential, and through mentoring we strive to help them discover what they want to do and who they want to be.

Month by Month Breakdown

Step 1: Self-Discovery

The first month, we will explore the student’s interests and passions through activities that involve creating artistic vision boards, imagining future scenarios in college and careers, and writing to explore the student’s areas of skill and expertise.

Step 2: Goal Setting

Choosing the right classes, extracurriculars, internship, and volunteer or club activities in high school require that we set goals for ourselves. If a student loves math and science and is interested in engineering, we may search for robotics clubs, summer physics programs at local universities, internships in academic science labs, and AP courses in Physics and Calculus. Setting goals helps us find opportunities for making a better college application in the long run.

Step 3: Choosing Classes in High School

We will look at each student’s options and spend time finding the right classes that fit with our goals. If a student is interested in pursuing creative writing in college, or even law after college, we will want to consider AP English Literature and AP Literature Composition courses in junior and senior years of high school where students learn the challenging elements of argumentation and rhetoric.

Step 4: Finding Extracurricular & Volunteer Opportunities

Do you know the vast options of clubs and extracurricular activities that your student’s school has to offer? From robotics club to drama club to journalism, what worlds could your student dive into to gain experience and take on leadership roles? We take a look at the entire list and see how each club could match up with the student’s goals and visions set at the beginning of our journey. In addition, volunteering is crucial to a well-rounded application. We help your student search for volunteering opportunities that they are interested in, and sometimes that even relate to the field they want to go into in college.

Step 5: Planning Summer Internships

Pursuing a summer internship is optional. However, we help students find local opportunities to adapt to a more “work/career” style role. Completing an internship in a field they are interested in can help a student gain crucial experience that will make them able to express their interests in their college applications (as well as make their first year in college that much more focused and fulfilling). They will learn responsibility, first-hand knowledge of the real world, and even create relationships with mentors that could serve as references for college applications.

Step 6: Selecting Universities

This daunting task can intimidate students. We are here to help them navigate the world of possible college and university choices that are tailored to their desired majors or areas of study. Does your student like the idea of going to a small liberal arts college with significantly smaller class sizes and an emphasis on the humanities? Does your student want to go to the university that has the number one aerospace engineering program? Where are the schools that offer the most scholarships or funding? We help provide options and narrow down the possibilities for a manageable college application experience.

Step 7: Prepare for SATs and College Essays

Studying for the SATs and writing college essays takes time, patience, and dedication. We create a schedule that allows students ample time to prepare for the SAT, and creates weekly assignments that guides them through the process of college essay writing. Organization and time management are essential when it comes to this stage of the application process. We not only help them stay organized but teach them management skills that they can take with them to college.

Step 8: Complete College Applications

We stay with your student every step of the way until the very end when they press submit on their college applications. Our goal is to build a well-rounded application that expresses the student’s passions, successes in high school, a bold personality, and his or her leadership role in the community. With our help, students can feel confident and excited about the college application process.
